Pastry People

I stepped into a unique little bakery, some time ago. The extraordinary pastries were as much artwork as incredible delicacies. However, the delectable, mouth-watering taste was unbelievable with stunning flavor.

In our great nation, we have extraordinary pastry people. In the face of so much obvious hatred, political controversies and criminal greed; we have thousands of unselfish citizens who make our country an incredible delicacy.

Today, there is a loving nurse somewhere holding the hand of a dying child at a children’s hospital, a soldier stepping on an IED while in search of a Middle Eastern terrorist group. There are volunteers helping children learn how to read at a local library, a police officer putting himself in the line of fire at a crime scene, and a famous athlete showing his or her skills to a group of kids at a sport’s camp. People are serving the homeless at a local mission; a pilot headed to a plane to carry a donor organ to save another life, a fireman or woman risking their lives in a burning building.

It doesn’t take long for anyone to look around them and observe the true American spirit in this remarkable land. Pastry people are the best-tasting thing America has going for itself. While a tiny minority in the US seek to steal, lie and kill there are millions of good-hearted Americans spending their time, money and energy to make other citizens feel safe, and know they are important.

My neighbor steps across the street each week and our brings our trash can up our driveway. He has done this voluntarily for years. Now, this is not a difficult job. There is very little time consumed. The fact is, our neighbor is a good man and a great neighbor who cares about others—thankfully, we are some of those others. He is without a doubt what I allude to as pastry person walking this earth…America. The pastry people in America should make all of us want to: Put a Little Love in Your Heart

Think of your fellow man, lend him a helping hand
Put a little love in your heart
You see, it’s getting late, oh, please don’t hesitate
Put a little love in your heart

And the world will be a better place
And the world will be a better place for you and me
You just wait and see

Another day goes by, and still the children cry
Put a little love in your heart
If you want the world to know, we won’t let hatred grow
Put a little love in your heart

And the world will be a better place
And the world will be a better place for you and me
You just wait and see. Wait and see
